Blah.
The Hurricanes are the Stanley cup champions. Fine! GREat! GRAND!
Not to spoil the desperate Patrick Roy shoe fitting for Cam Ward, but where are the Hurricanes in these playoffs without Rod Brind'Amor? I can understand why the NHL doesn't want him to be the "face" of the league, but come on, he was the most valuable player in these playoffs.

Oil...Bitch, you cookin'?

Because I love to twist the knife, I forced myself to watch game 5 last night. I gotta say, it was an awesome game. Lots of back and forth. It was great to see Edminton finally be able to finish. Plus it's seems Carolina is not immune to the injury bug after all. Who knows, one game at a time and all that jive. The hater in me wants to go back down to Carolina for game 7 should it come to that. You know there'll be tickets. Maybe if they were humbled by Edminton (not the team, mind you, but the town, or towns, or triangle, or however they refer to themselves in big-box land), they wouldn't be so quick to fill their sports section with pictures of wide right and Brett Hull parading the Cup around. Also, if Edminton wins, maybe this feeling of being 20 minutes away from the Cup would go away. In the words of the Ghostface Killah, But fuck that, I put alotta money up, I'm hatin!

I love this team.
Oof!
That was tough. I have to say however that something was different. Nobody choked, the refs didn't decide the game, and our boys played their hearts out until the bitter end. I'm not talking about any moral victories here, I hate the way that I feel right now but still there's something different. For the first time in my sports watching life I wanted them to win for them. This is the best Buffalo sports team I've ever watched and for the first time it wasn't about me, or the city, it was about this team that I've watched and enjoyed all year, a team that has shown me an uncommon heart through close to a hundred action packed games. Thank you Sabres and Thank You Tom Golisano! To all the emotional cowards who were afraid to get your hearts broken, and to the emotional bullies just waiting for the Sabres to fail so you could gloat over somebody else's hearbreak, eat a dick, you don't deserve to be in the same city as this team.
Thank you Sabres!
